This is Ruby.

She is a 13-year-old girl.

Ruby is a confident young lady who states, "Slayyy defines me."  Slayyy means she is self-confident and self-empowered.  She describes herself as "sassy and I have a strong sense of self."  She enjoys physical activity, including playing soccer and basketball.  She also likes to sing and dance and edit videos and pictures.  Currently, her favorite song is "That Should Be Me" by Justin Bieber.  Her goal after high school is to go to beauty school and become a cosmetolgoist.  Ruby is a social person who very much likes to spend time with her friends and family.  She is definitive in her likes, including her favorite shoes are Air Jordans, her favorite food is Mexican food and her favorite flower is a carnation.   Ruby is excited to be starting high school in the fall and at times she works hard to do her best with her studies.  Most recently, Ruby has enjoyed being a part of a church congregation and participating in the various church activities.  Ruby will do best in a family who is patient and encourages her to express herself in a positive manner.   Her family will need to help advocate for various resources for her. Ruby wants her future family to know "If you give me time to get to know you, I will share my story with you."

Note: Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) has ceased offering the non-relative Adoption Only program. CYFD does continue to offer the Foster Care program. The Foster Care Program differs in that that the goal of the program is to ultimately reunite the child with their biological parent while the child is in your care for approximately a year. Should you become a Foster Parent it is also a possibility that the children that you foster may become available for adoption.
