This is Estrella.

She is a 7-year-old girl.

Estrella, who is a compassionate child, is very curious and likes to learn new things and meet new people.  She is sweet and will easily engage in conversations.  Estrella enjoys coloring and drawing.  She is also a member of the jump rope club at school.  Estrella is a very independent child who is an advocate for herself, but is also learning to lean on others for support.  She keeps to herself and prefers the company of her family over her peers, but she is learning the tools to be able to connect with her peers in the future and maintain those positive connections.

Estrella would benefit from a family who can provide her with structure and clear boundaries.  The family needs to be patient with Estrella as she takes time to develop trust with significant people involved in her life.  Estrella needs to continue working in therapy in regard to her trauma behaviors.

Note: Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) has ceased offering the non-relative Adoption Only program. CYFD does continue to offer the Foster Care program. The Foster Care Program differs in that that the goal of the program is to ultimately reunite the child with their biological parent while the child is in your care for approximately a year. Should you become a Foster Parent it is also a possibility that the children that you foster may become available for adoption.
