This is Maria R.

She is a 7-year-old girl.

Note: Maria R is part of a sibling group and must remain with her sibling, Rafael.

Meet Maria! Maria is a clever girl who likes to joke around with people.  She is very much a girly-girl and likes to dress in fancy, pink, frilly clothing.  Her favorite movie is “The Lion King.” Maria will at times use her role of being the younger sister to get extra attention from adults.  Maria is a smart student and does well in school, both academically and socially.  She is proud to have Rafael as her brother and she looks out for him.  Maria is spunky and can be outspoken at times.  Maria is still learning to accept guidance and directives from her care givers, so she will need a family who can be patient with her and help her utilize her coping skills to be able to regulate her emotions when she is upset.

Maria would benefit from a family who can provide her with structure and clear boundaries. Maria and her brother would benefit from a home who can continue offering this strongly bonded sibling group guidance in continuing to address their trauma behaviors. Maria and her brother need a family who will support their ongoing contact with their other biological siblings.

Note: Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) has ceased offering the non-relative Adoption Only program. CYFD does continue to offer the Foster Care program. The Foster Care Program differs in that that the goal of the program is to ultimately reunite the child with their biological parent while the child is in your care for approximately a year. Should you become a Foster Parent it is also a possibility that the children that you foster may become available for adoption.
