This is Michael.

He is a 17-year-old boy.

Michael is an active and talented young man. He has a beautiful voice, loves to play the guitar and is participating in weekly lessons. This young adventurer enjoys camping and swimming and just being active outdoors. Michael also enjoys attending Sunday services at a local Baptist church. This fellow enjoys helping in the kitchen and is willing to do household chores.

Michael attends weekly therapy that will need to continue when he is placed in his adoptive home. He is learning how to interact with his peer, how to take responsibility and how to respect boundaries. In school, Michael participates in an Individualized Education Plan, so he will need lots of structure and support to achieve his educational goals.

Michael would thrive in an active, two-parent home where there are no other children. An experienced, caring family who understand trauma behaviors and would commit to continue to work with him in therapy would be ideal. Having a family that enjoys cooking would be extra special for Michael.

Note: Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) has ceased offering the non-relative Adoption Only program. CYFD does continue to offer the Foster Care program. The Foster Care Program differs in that that the goal of the program is to ultimately reunite the child with their biological parent while the child is in your care for approximately a year. Should you become a Foster Parent it is also a possibility that the children that you foster may become available for adoption.
