This is Ricardo.
He is an 8-year-old boy.
Ricardo is a loving, affectionate little boy who has lots of energy. He can be shy at first, but he warms up quickly and has a desire to please. He enjoys camping, hiking, fishing, swimming and being involved in community activities such as sports, music and art events. His favorite toys include big trucks and tractors as well as colors and art supplies. Ricardo attends therapy where he is learning to ask for the things he needs, directing his energy in positive ways and learning to regulate his behavior. At school, Ricardo benefits from an individualized education plan where he is learning to stay on task and follow directions.
This youngster will benefit from an active, two-parent family where he can get equal attention from a mom and a dad. The family will need to be patient, structured and understand the needs of children who have experienced trauma. Ricardo struggles in his relationships with his peers, so it is recommended that he be placed in a home where there are only older siblings or where the parent can closely supervise his interactions with other children.
Ricardo has siblings who will not be placed with him, so his forever family will need to be open to maintaining contact between them. At this time, only New Mexico families are encouraged to inquire so that Ricardo can maintain contact with his siblings.
